About us

The likelihood of accurately assessing prospects of a potential claim in the early stages of litigation is fraught with difficulty. Get it wrong and it can lead to be a hugely frustrating and disappointing experience for the client costing them time, money and energy, as well as causing reputational damage to you and your law firm. Get it right and you will save costs, improve settlement and trial outcomes, as well as create opportunities to deepen client relationships. If you are facing any kind of dispute where you are being asked to assess whether there is a case or not to answer, we can help you analyse it quicker, cheaper and deeper through the very best artificial learning technology designed for litigators, by litigators.

Uniquely, our early case assessment (or ECA) tool has been designed by a team of a Queen’s Counsel, leading litigation solicitors and AI experts with decades of experience working in London, one of the most sophisticated and high-level legal environments to practice in.

What we do?

Armed with decades of litigation experience and in partnership with leading technologists, the DataKiwi team have built the best early case assessment (ECA) tool there is. The user can interrogate and curate the documents in order to get to the answers as quickly as possible by deploying a number of key features in the DataKiwi environment.

Key Features:

· The most powerful AI engine on the market – the user can parse the AI engine over the enhanced dataset to test legal and factual investigation queries. Documentary results are returned to prove or disprove the legal hypothesis.

· Simple user upload process – Process and upload data from a wide range of disparate sources, lawyers have control of that process not their IT colleagues.

· Integration of public and social data sources – data is scraped from public sources such as Companies House, online press outlets and social media platforms to be seamlessly integrated with the user’s data. This allows the user within the DataKiwi environment to test source data against public data and fill the gaps in or add context.

· Class leading filtration parameters for user to crop data set by date, time, custodian, sentiment, location and or key word.

· Travel visualisation – track a custodian’s movements over a specific time period using DataKiwi’s travel tool.

· Data visualisation – data is transformed into easily digestible graphics that reveal key relationships, communications and movements.

· On-platform record of data journey – the DataKiwi data journey tool sits in the background and collates the user’s decisions, findings and conclusions in a user-friendly format. The user will understand where they’ve been, how they got there and where to go next.

The workflow, user experience and use case draws on over 60 years of real-world litigation experience. It goes beyond simply showing you data, instead creating both a record of key factual findings and conclusions, blending both data and advice that can be given direct to the client. No other ECA provider comes close to this offering.

Who We are

DataKiwi was set up in 2020 by Edmund Williams QC, leading litigation solicitors James Oldnall, Edward Cardington and Polly Blenkin and top technologists Vishnu Chundi and Farid Haque.

They could see that the technology available to litigators for Early Case Analysis [ECA] was a 20th century solution to 21st century problems. As a result clients were not being given the best possible advice, or strategy at the start of their litigation journey. Put simply too many technology solutions lacked insight and input by those who have walked in the footsteps of their users.

ECA in contentious and investigatory work is difficult. It is nuanced and complex. Litigators are presented with mountains of documents from many different data sources with limited time and resources available to analyze it. That is why they developed an ECA product that imitates, supports, and enhances that initial investigatory process.
